Download Tips

When you install DialogCentral, you have a variety of options of how it appears and operates on your website. The icon that is right for you takes into consideration your website's design, the traffic it generates, your business objectives and your visitors' preferences.

What are your options?

  • > Icon color: the icon may be downloaded in white, gray or black
  • > DIALOG under icon: the word "DIALOG" is placed underneath the icon
  • > Rating scale: the 5-point rating scale is eliminated; instead, raters proceed directly to the DialogCentral Comment Card
  • > Language: the pop-up window and Comment Card are available in a number of languages
  • > Secondary comment icon: a second icon, replaces the icon once a rating is provided, enabling users an additional opportunity to provide qualitative feedback

Icon color

We offer three colors of the icon: white, gray or black.

The choice is largely subjective, but you want to ensure you chose a color that contrasts with your website's colors so the icon is clearly visible.

Dialog under icon

Placing the word "DIALOG" underneath the icon may provide a clearer explanation to your Web visitor of its purpose. One subscriber told us that the word "DIALOG" increased the number of responses it received by 20%.

The downside to this setting is that it consumes slightly more space on the screen and therefore may interfere with your page's content. If space is not an issue for your website, we recommend this option.

Rating scale

This option changes the basic operation of the icon, but it can provide a tremendous upside in the number of comments received. With this option, instead of the 5-point rating scale, your website visitors see the following image:

Should the user click on this message, the visitor proceeds directly to the OnlineOpinion Comment Card. By not showing the 5-point rating scale, the visitor no longer can provide a one-click rating. At a minimum, they must go to the Comment Card before submitting a rating.

When this option was tested, the results were dramatic. The quantity of ratings received fell by ~75%; however, over 20% of those who provided ratings also submitted a written comment. (The 5-point rating version of icon typically averages 1-2 comments per 100 ratings.) In addition, CDU ratings were completed at a rate of ~80%.

For less trafficked websites, we believe you should leave the rating scale turned on. However, for higher trafficked websites, turning off the rating scale becomes an interesting option.

Language

We offer the DialogCentral system in 22+ languages.

We recommend you use a version of icon that corresponds to the language you use on your website. If we do not currently offer your language, please let us know: info@opinionlab.com.

Secondary comment icon

With this option on, the icon is replaced with a second icon, whenever a visitor rates the page. This enables visitors to access the DialogCentral Comment Card even after they have already rated the Web page using the 5-point rating scale.

The secondary comment icon addresses two potential concerns:

  • > The first is that some visitors may take immediate advantage of rating and not realize that the Comment Card is available. The secondary comment icon offers them an opportunity to learn how the DialogCentral system works.
  • > The second is that we sometimes see a difference between an initial rating and a Comment Card rating. The secondary comment icon allows people to re-rate a page after they have had time to re-evaluate a Web page.

Listening to your visitors should be easy... Thanks to DialogCentral, now it's easy and cost-effective!
