General FAQs
How is the DialogCentral system
different?
Traditional techniques - focus groups, intercept surveys, etc. - have
simply transferred their off-line methods into the online world. Unfortunately,
they don't take full advantage of the continuous dialog opportunities
the Web makes available. While traditional methodologies are satisfactory
for short-term, project-based studies (i.e. capturing 100 responses to
15 questions within 2 weeks), they are ineffective for rapidly evolving,
dynamic websites where the design, content and usability of the website
is continuously changing. Additionally, traditional techniques are ineffective
to diagnose user issues across the entire geography of the website. Lastly,
if a subscriber wishes to trend satisfaction over time, the only valid
technique is to capture and analyze user feedback continuously.
Why would a website visitor rate
a page using the DialogCentral system?
Internet users no longer "surf" the Web. Instead, most have
settled on 5-10 websites where they feel most comfortable - i.e., to place
stock trades, to read current events, to be entertained, etc. Because
users have settled on favorites, they want their Web experience to reflect
their unique requirements. Therefore, if you provide these users a forum
to provide feedback, they will. In fact, our data suggests they will provide
feedback in large numbers - often hundreds or thousands of ratings per
day.
What percent of visitors rate a
page using the DialogCentral system?
We have found approximately 1-5% of total visitors rate a page. The
actual percent depends on a number of factors: poorly rated pages receive
more feedback, transactional sites often receive more feedback, home pages
receive a higher response rate, etc.
How much does the DialogCentral
system cost?
The DialogCentral system is FREE!
Can I customize the data collection
technique?
We have attempted to standardize the icon as much as possible so our
subscribers can benchmark their performance against competitive norms.
However, as part of our corporate solutions, we do enable custom questions
to be inserted into our OnlineOpinion Dynamic Comment Card.
Is the icon available in other languages?
The icon is available in a number of languages, including but not limited
to: Arabic, Chinese, Czech, Dutch, English, French, German, Hebrew, Hindi,
Italian, Japanese, Korean, Montenegrian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese,
Russian, Romanian, Spanish, Slovenian, Swedish and Turkish. You have the
option to choose any language when you download.
If we do not currently offer your language, please email us at info@opinionlab.com
and we'll try to accommodate your request.
What information is collected when
a user submits a rating?
The DialogCentral system enables your website visitors to provide page
ratings, open-ended comments and content, design and usability ratings.
In addition, the system collects the following data automatically with
each rating submitted:
- > URL
- > Time spent on page before rating was submitted
- > Time (CST) and date of rating
- > IP address
- > Host name
- > Referring address (the page the user was on before accessing
the current page)
- > Browser type
- > Operating system
- > Screen resolution
Why does the icon disappear after I've provided a
rating?
The icon disappears for 60 minutes for a user, for that page, when a
rating is submitted. This prevents a user from rating a page excessively.
Will I have access to the raw data collected for
my website?
Yes
May I install DialogCentral on more than one website?
You may install DialogCentral on as many websites as you wish but you
must activate each domain separately. You may use the same subscriber
ID and password for each website. When you login, you will be asked for
which domain you wish to see a report.
Can I aggregate multiple URLs into one report?
Yes, our OnlineOpinion subscribers
can aggregate multiple URLs within the 24/7 Metric analysis tool.
Does DialogCentral require the use of cookies?
DialogCentral does not require the use of cookies. However, certain
functionality is optimized if a user allows for cookies.
Who owns the DialogCentral data?
OpinionLab owns all the data collected by DialogCentral. By doing so,
OpinionLab can establish norms that enable our subscribers to benchmark
their performance vis-à-vis other websites. As part of our Terms
of Use, we promise not to share data or identify the company associated
