New Install

  1. Uncompress the downloaded zip file. This will create an /oinstall directory on your system.
  2. Copy the onlineopinion directory from the /oinstall directory to the root level of your Web server.
  3. Open the include.txt file in a text editor and copy the data to your clipboard. (The Copy command can usually be found in your text editor's Edit menu. Alternatively, most text editors allow you to use Ctrl-Insert or the Ctrl-C key to copy information.)
  4. Repeat the following steps for each Web page on which you want to place the OnlineOpinion system:
    1. Open the HTML file on your Web server.
    2. Paste the code at the end of your HTML document.
    3. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU PLACE THE CODE AT THE VERY END OF YOUR HTML DOCUMENT, EVEN AFTER THE </BODY> OR </HTML> TAG.

  5. Save the HTML file back onto your Web server and view the Web page to ensure that "O" appears properly.

Activation

Activation links your ratings in our database to your subscriber id/password. Activation is necessary before you can access any online reporting. To activate:

  1. Enter the top level URL for your Website followed by /onlineopinion/activate26.html.
  2. Submit the temporary subscriber id and password you received when you downloaded the software. You may use the same subscriber id and password for multiple sites.

Optional Step
When you activate, you will have the opportunity to enter a customer service email address. This email link will appear on your Comment Card as a way for your users to send email directly to you; no rating data will be sent to this address. If you leave this field blank, no such link will appear on your Comment Card. This address may be modified at any time by logging into your account.

Upgrade

  1. Login to your account and click on the Upgrade link in your Upgrade Center.
  2. Extract the zip file contents into your existing OnlineOpinion directory on your Web server. (Make sure the images are extracted without creating additional directories. This may require you to turn off the "create new directories" feature in your unzip program.)

That's all! You are not required to change any code on any HTML page. If you go to one of your "O"-enabled Web pages, you should see the newest version of the OnlineOpinion system.
